Yeah before you get all impressed, winds were like 2-3mph. Tiller Pilot steered for me...
Couple things I get now... Compainionway launches and retrieves HAVE to be easier... I used the blow the halyard, and grab the clew and haul to retrieve and to drop into down below. Was super easy. If I had a launch/retrieve bag, it'd be the way to go.
Other thing I get is why others have relocated the stand up block for the downhaul to the bottom of the mast (or just forward of there. Having to constantly adjust the downhaul to adjust the top lift is a pain... I could see why putting it at the bottom of the mast would prevent having to adjust both each time.
Do you folks have any other major tips for symmetrical spin use?
Before you say, no pictures didn't happen: and also
New toys to relocate the stand-up block to the bottom of the Mast arrived today (including new fairleads as I apparently crushed one at some point)... Also I bought a simple Ronstan Orbit Cheek block to act as a temporary turning block for the spin pole downhaul (it'll probably become permanent, but I am trying to organize things some).
Pictures worth 1000 words or whatever...
Those anti-rattle sea-dog latches are my idea to keep the lazarettes closed in the event of a broach (see how I tied that in with spinnaker?).. Yeah I am a darned comedian!
Here's another plug for the association burgee:
It matches my boat nicely no?
Anyway, if anyone has any other symm spin rigging tricks they want to share, pole height, better gybing, whatever.. I want to hear them.
