Below are the pictures of a pole I found on "LTC". This is our second season with her and I'm not sure what this is or where it is supposed to go. I am hoping it will look familiar to one of you.

I just updated the link to the pictures in my dropbox folder. They are showing up again but may expire? Of course I'm trying to get off easy uploading the pics using an existing account for which I can actually remember the login ID!

They aren't showing up. My guess is that you didn't make them public, and they'll only show up for people who are logged into dropbox.

Yes, Thank you! You were absolutely correct. There is a "public link" URL available through dropbox. I think they are showing now?

Looks like one of your old spreaders. Take a look up your mast & see if the ones up there resemble the one in the picture.

First raction: Shape of the end looks like a gin pole to me..... Is there something on the front of your mast that would fit into 1-3 of the pin holes in the end?

Second Thought: The slot in the end is similar to the spreader end. What are the dimensions?

Our spreaders are square cuts on both ends, one end fitting into the spreader fitting and being cotter pinned into location, the opposite end containing the groove for the upper shroud.

What are the dimensions? There's not much in those pictures to give us a perspective on the size (except your hand in the background of a close-up, which could be misleading).

It is longer than the spreaders. I will bring it out to the marina with me next time and sniff around with it following the suggestions offered from everyone's replies.

I will also measure it and report back.

So, after spending much time fixing it this way and that all over the boat, I still have no idea what this could possibly be. For what it's worth, it measures 54 inches and has those four holes at each end.

Jeff, I think it's pretty safe to guess that this item doesn't actually belong on the boat. For one thing, it looks like rust in a few places; if that's the case it might just be something the PO used for a prop or a brace and he just never got around to removing it. If, on the other hand, it is aluminum (or SS) the chances are better that it was a nautical item of some kind. At only 54" it wouldn't be much of a whisker pole, but the holes suggest that something or other was fastened to the ends (are the insides of those holes threaded?). In any case, you can most likely do without it; it's just taking up space, which is precious on our little yachts.
