We'll be visiting our son in Seattle July 19-22, and have reserved a Catalina 25 from Island Sailing Club in Kirkland for July 21. Any suggestions of what to do on Lake Washington? Good coves for anchoring/swimming, restaurants to pull up to, etc.? It looks like a really neat place!
Also, my aunt lives in Olympia. She has a waterfront house on East Bay, directly across from Swantown Marina, where Island Sailing Club's Olympia office is located. In fact, we kayaked through that marina last year when we visited. Although we're planning to sail Lake Washington this time, Olympia might be a possibility in the future. Any suggestions for good sailing in that area?

There's a really good Mexican restaurant called Cactus, in easy walking distance (less than a block I think) in Madison Park, just south of the 520 floating bridge. A few miles south is Seward Park, which gets warm enough to swim in. However, if I remember correctly, the clearance on the I-90 bridge (east side) is only 29', so you might have to go around Mercer Island on the east side (check all clearances obviously, I haven't sailed on Lake Washington for nearly 10 years). Seward Park gets pretty full with the party crowd during the weekends, but pretty quiet during the week.
Take a spin up to the north-east-ish side of the lake and you can stroll through downtown Kirkland, with lots of shops & restaurants.
The restaurant just north of Leschi used to have the best fish & chips I've ever had, but I don't think it's the same place any more. The restaurant that's there now is called Blue Water Bistro, but I don't think I've ever been there. There also used to be a great Thai place just a few doors north of the restaurant, but I don't see it on Google Maps now, so maybe it's gone. Directly across the street from the restaurant is a very nice little grocery called Leschi Food Mart, where they make some great sandwiches as well as sausage and will have everything you're looking for, including ice, and they're nice folks.
