I would've thought that the next attainable rank would be that of Fleet Admiral...?
As for what a Master Marine Consultant is, I don't know, but if it is someone who rambles on ad nauseum, then I guess I've earned the title. As I stated in another post, my current title is a result of my prodigious posting, and the volume of these posts are inversely proportional to my nautical knowledge and directly proportional to the amount of free time(and BS) that I obviously have way too much of!
I'm still not the king of posts. That honor goes to Dave Bristle who's closing in on 1200.
Don - when did you move from Uganda to Botswana? Can Catalina Direct ship to Botswana if you need, say, a replacement gooseneck, gudgeon, or mast truck?

You know, I remember Mark Russell singing a song years ago called, "Mommas, Don't Let your Babies Grow Up to be Consultants," to the obvious tune. . . .

I'm circumnavigating the globe.
Having been a member that has spent time on Christmas Island, in the Vatican and in both Uganda and Botswana (at least that's what my tag line says, I would have to say the Botswana months were the best. Enjoy your time there.

Yes, Botswana is very nice this time of year. The Botswan's are very friendly, as were the Ugandan's. Next stop is the Virgin Islands to see if they have any friendly Virgins!
Don I have been to the Virgin Islands and yes there are still a few. If you are going be sure to take the trip out to Buck Island from St Croix. Its the only other underwater national monument other than Pearl Harbor. They have several catamarans that make the trip out and go snorkaling on the reef. One the way back its a real drink fest to see who consumes the most jet juice. The rum there is very cheap. The conch soup is to die for and the water was 78F or above.

I, too, have been to the Virgin Islands(St. Thomas) and it is a fantastic place. As a matter of fact, this is where the sailing seed was planted in me 15 years ago. My friends and I were at Magen's Bay on St. Thomas, which at the time, was voted one of the top ten beaches in the world.
While at Magen's Bay, one of my friends decided to rent a Hobie cat and I volunteered to go with him and split the costs. He had some sailing experience having taken Sunfish classes, but I was going along as pure ballast.
The weather was beautiful that day for lounging at the beach, but not exactly good for sailing a boat, little wind and nary a ripple on the water, but we went anyway. The sailing was slow going, but every once in a awhile we'd hit a puff and the cat would surge(probably just a knot or two), but that tiny surge was enough to get my blood pumping with excitement that we were moving with energy from the wind. From that moment on, I was hooked! About a month later, I solo'd a sunfish in Barbados, and at that point, I was not only hooked, I was jumping out of the water like a blue marlin.
I have a passport but everytime I find "cash to burn", it mysteriously turns into boat units. Has anyone else fallen victim to this strange para-normal occurance?
