Short story: Went to change the impeller, put the motor in my truck like it shows in the manual and drove it home. When I got home all the oil had spilled out of the engine, great. So after I changed the impeller, I then cleaned the carb and replaced the spark plugs.
Got it back in the water and my water pump is pumping well, but now when I put the engine anywhere above idle, it stalls out completely. Where to start? I've already taken the carb back apart to make sure i didn't missing anything...
Bill, Welcome to the forum. I went through something similar with my Tohatsu a couple of years ago. Spend the time to thoroughly clean the jets in the carburetor. It sounds like your high speed jet may be clogged, or your vent to atmosphere is plugged with a bit of oil or other residue.
I ended up using my ultrasonic cleaner to clean mine, and then blowing it out with compressed air. A rebuild kit is fairly inexpensive if the gaskets don't survive the take down, or as you say you're missing an o-ring. I like getting stuff from iBoats, but there are many other places to get parts.
Good luck, I know how frustrating an unreliable outboard can be, I futzed around with mine for nearly a year before I got it working properly again. Let us know how it works out, and ask lots of questions, there are lots of us on here with the same engine.

the external gas tank vent? I'll give it a check tomorrow, that does sound possible...
