Thanks again for all the helpful advice and information. Fixing this will be my major winter project and I will let you all know how it works out. I bought the engine brand new from a well known Honda dealer in Connectticut so I will give him a call to start off with. Thank you all again.

What do you all think about this as a possible solution:

It's a 4 stroke bracket with an angle adjustment.

I have no experience with brackets of any type. But looking at the picture, it looks like the angle adjustment might go the opposite direction from what you need.

I'd call them on the phone and tell them the exact angle and direction you need to adjust, and see what model(s) they have that will accommodate it.

Keep in mind that the bracket you mention above travels in an arc so when you go to lower the motor it's going to move farther aft before moving back in toward the transom Could make it difficult to operate the bracket as well as the motor. Plus it's going to move the motor even farther back which could cause issues of making the boat round up easier while sailing. Most people are already having to put weight in the bow to compensate with the motor in the normal position.

A fixed bracket like David Crosby's should be less expensive and less complicated and you can get them with different set backs so you can keep the motor as close to the transom as possible.

The electric tilt sounds great , so my thought is I would not want to pull the motor up ..

the motor mount I have is like Dave Crosbys (that sounds cool)
it realy shines when you kick the motor right or left with the rudder you can turn on a dime .
It will pop out if the water if its ruff seas , i try to motor sail in those conditions , reefed up motor not screaming .
Its a 9.9 honda XL

The bracket that David has is a stock Catalina item and was meant to solve the problem of larger motors having limited turning range on the C250. I think its your safest bet.

Okay. Can someone please provide a link to where I can buy this mount? I see one on Cat Direct but I'm not sure its the same one. It looks too small. Thanks again.

I saw the one on catalina direct it does look a little different , your backing plate on the motor is a little bigger then mine with no electric tilt .
maybe check into CatalinaDirect.com return policy before you buy .

mine was on the boat when I got it its a 2002 also

I bought one from Catalina Yachts if I recall correctly. Call them at their Florida factory (they build the C250s) and ask for the Parts department. 727-544-6681
