I removed the alcohol stove and built a drawer to fill the space and added a single burner butane stove. I built it out of teak but it is not aged to match the original teak and I do not want to start a refinishing project. The stove is stainless steel. Now I want to add a power vent to the bilge in case any butane leaks out of the canister. I store the canisters in the place where the gas tank would go if I had an outboard.

I remove and store the canister when not in use--I think the instructions admonish me to do so. Seems like a simpler solution...

Be aware to install blower that does not spark :-)

I wanted to install such portable cooker but its quality can vary a lot !!!

Check out these pictures first

and read this accident

This is too risky for me.

Thank you Tom for the information. The brown one looks like the stove I have. At dock with shore power we use an electric induction stove (as seen on TV). We love it

<< I remove and store the canister when not in use >>

Ditto.. the small lazerette locker on the aft starbrd side seems to be a good place to store that cannister, as well as any extra one.

I like to use the stove in the center floorboard just outside the companionway while I stand inside the boat. If I get hit by a wave ( or the can blows ) it should contain any grease or fire outside and away from me. Having it on the center line of the boat makes it a bit more stable also.

The space where the stove was is now cooking storage including the butane stove.
But...
I just cut and stained a 3/8th thick piece of birch plywood and velcroed it to two angle pieces screwed into the sides of the stainless box. It looks like a drawer but is just a false front that easily pulls off but holds tight when sailing.</font id="navy"></font id="size2"></font id="Comic Sans MS">
