I am doing my homework to try to find a replacement mast for my 250WK (2004). I came across USSpars extrusion Z230 which may be a suitable replacement at a much cheaper price that the Catalina Direct mast. I would appreciate any info on this extrusion from the forum.
I'd imagine there can't be that many manufacturers of spars in the country. The closer you can get to buying from the manufacturer, the lower the price.
I went to the US Spars website and they list Catalina Yachts as a "sparring partner". I'd bet that means that's where Catalina buys the masts for our boat. (You could call and ask.) Was your boat made in Key Largo or in California? If the former, your old mast may well be a US Spars mast.
Another thing in favor of US Spars may well be their location. Shipping from Florida would be cheaper than from California where CD is located.

I thought I heard somewhere that Catalina switched to US Spars toward the end of the C250 production run. If so, I'd recommend using them, even though it may mean you have to also replace the spreader brackets, header, and foot (depending on the cross-sectional shape of the mast).
Has Catalina been any help at all with this? Maybe Kent Nelson (now working at CatalinaDirect) would know.
Thanks for all replies To answer Rick--Cat Direct quote was similiar to USSpars $2285. USSpars quotes a Z230 extrusion which is a little heavier than the original mast My mast (maker unknown) is 2.8" x 4.5", the Z230 is 3.2" x 4.8". I could fit the Z230 in the tabernacle (tight), but I prefer buying the exact mast if possible
