I posted a while back about the crappy tarp material my Lifesling II's cover was made from and thinking about making myself a new one. Well, an opportunity came along when the guy I bought my jib bag from saw one of the custom pens I make and asked if I could make him one. I replied that I'd be willing to trade him a pen for a new cover, and this is the result:
I asked him to preserve the instructions which were still in pretty good shape, so he enclosed them in clear vinyl where they'll be visible on the front side of the port cat-bird seat back:
He used the old bag as a pattern and created the new bag from it copying all the Velcro closures and adding a grommet for a drain in the bottom (can't see it in the photo):
Almost fully packed:
Done:
I'm very pleased with it, and he guarantees his work.

I'm quite pleased with it. I'm trading him some software in the near future to make a winch cover for my new-to-me winch:
He's going to make it with Sunbrella Sea Mark, which is waterproof to cover this:
I'm also going to ask him to make a tiller cover for me to cover my home made tiller & Power Tiller so I don't have to keep refinishing it every couple of years.

Hah, nope, completely spaced that out. This is a piece of Black Locust Burl that came out of my brother's yard down near Medford, OR. The pen is called a "bolt-action", and it's in gun metal livery.
I like pool sticks. The wood for pens is often pieces that are too small for a pool stick. http://www.bellforestproducts.com/pen-blanks/ I love Ebony and Cocobolo, here some of of both.
No, I just enjoy understanding how they are made. I have about 20 sticks and there is something about each one of them that I like. It would be easy to buy some wood stock for pool cues and make nice trim out of it for a cabin.
