I purchased the replacement vinyl rubrail from Catalina Direct and I'm planning to install this Friday. Any words of wisdom or tips to ease installation. I've read where soaking in warm water before install will help with flexibility and compliance. I'm also thinking of using "windex" as a solution to help with fitting it into the channel. Wondering about the need to use a mallet or other tool to persuade. Hopefully others out there have some 1st hand experience.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I replaced the rub rail on my previous boat with no problems. Warm doses help. Water works fine as a lubricant and a rubber mallet encouraged a couple of tight bends. It really isn't difficult.

When I replaced mine I tucked the top in first by hand and then pushed the bottom edge in using a blunt screwdriver tip. Stretch it a bit as you install it and the warmer the better. Keep checking what you already installed as you go to make sure nothing has let loose. It can be painstakingly slow so allow yourself plenty of time.

Just finished installing the new rub rail, took just over an hour. The video helped a lot. I had help and the extra hands were welcomed. My technique was to keep the vinyl in warm/hot water "hook the lower lip into the channel and using a rubber mallet firmly tap the top lip at about 45 degrees downward. Used windex as a lubricant, in the difficult areas the window screen spline tool helped encourage it into place. Towards the end I was concerned we were going to run out, turns out we had about 1 1/2 foot left over.
