I recently attempted to replace my mast head sheaves on my 1979 C25. I ordered the recommended sheaves from Catalina Direct but so far both sets of sheaves sent were too thick. My original sheaves are white the replacement sheaves they sent were black one set had metal inserts both sets were about 1/8 of an inch thicker than the originals. Can any one tell me where to find the correct size? I can not fit both sheaves in the mast head I was able to fit one new and one old one and it was tight but got me sailingtill the next one fails. Thanks
Are you sure that you don't have the sheaves for internal halyards? I have the CD replacements with external halyards. The black color is just UV protection in the resin. I can check mine tomorrow to measure the width and be to sure tha I didn't change anything.
When my original masthead sheaves "died"... I went to a local machine shop and had them machine replacements for me out of silicon/bronze metal. The "new" sheaves will outlast the boat. Bill Holcomb - C25 Snickerdoodle #4839
I'm suspicious the other Dave B. Is right--you may have the sheaves for internal halyards, which require only one per halyard. CD should fix you up. It might help if you can tell them the exact widths of what they sent and what you're replacing.
