i'm putting the beast in the water tomorrow morning, late ice on Lake Champlain postponed the haul-ins this year, i used this dead time to do the stuff i kept postponing like varnishing and other boring tasks...
i was lucky enough to have a nice cover and aluminium frame included with the boat when i bought it, first winter i used it and it was easy to install
ok, i'm bullshi$%ing a little bit here, it's more like this :-P
after rebedding the handrails with epoxy (there was a small area of rot around 3 of the holes from the handrail that leaked over time, i filled those with very liquid epoxy (Git-Rot) after letting the holes open all winter to dry them up, it worked well) i decided against putting the handrails back, to many holes to redrill and caulk, i'll leave it like that for this season and if i feel it's too dangerous i'll just put 24" stainless steel handrails in the middle my logic being that i never used the parts of the rail near the cockpit and near the shrouds...
and tomorrow will be the exact 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Empress Of Ireland (good thing i'm not superstitious :-S )
Looking great! Envious of your winter cover...on my wish list when I win that lottery. Have a great season. I'm still finishing up projects but plan to launch next week (Malletts Bay).
