is there any rhyme or reason to the placement of gates with pelican hooks in the lifelines?
my dock is only a little finger dock that comes a few feet past the bow. thus i have to board from the bow. this means i have to step over the lifeline to get onto the boat. for me this isn't an issue, but others are less acrobatic.
is there any reason i couldn't put a gate with pelican hooks towards the bow? my cockpit already has the gates, i was thinking i could just flip the whole system around so the gates are towards the front rather then the stern
My boat has two lifelines on each side. The aft lifeline has pelican hooks. The foreward one has turnbuckles. If you can find a pelican hook that's just the right length, you could screw off the turnbuckle/t-bolt and screw on the pelican hook. However, you might have an issue with genoa chafe against it, depending on how the sail is cut.
