Hi I'm trying to plan a trip to Waldo Lake this summer. Heard its incredible!
I'm worried about the boat ramp depth and shallow nature of the lake. We own a C250 wk. Does anyone know this lake? I'd be grateful of any advice or experiences on what it's like.
Also, looks like I'll need to get an electric motor for the trip. Is it easy to install one temporarily?
Waldo Lake is incredible. You can see over 100 feet down in the clear water. Awesome views. No gas motors allowed. We sailed there on a C22 swing keel. As I recall the C22 was barely able to clear the rocks to get into open water. I would suggest that you contact the Forest Service (Willamette National Forest, Oakridge) to check on the clearance.
P.S. Mosquitos can be quite bad at these Cascade lakes.
Thanks Henk. We are cruising on land these days. Both retired and set to travel all around the USA and Canada. There is a good chance we'll be looking for a small sailboat someday. In the meantime I do enjoy checking out the C25/250 forums periodically.
