I was hoping someone could give me a couple measurements and save a trip out to the boat. I need the opening dimension for the icebox and the dimension of the icebox bottom. Thanks in advance........

Nate: If you don't hear from anyone else, tonight I can measuer the inset of my icebox lid, which would approximate the opening. Can't help with the bottom any time soon.

Nate,
I'm not sure if the measurements on a '78 are the same as an '86 but here are the numbers from my boat.

Top opening: L 17 5/16" x W 9 7/8"

Bottom dimension is slanted to match the hull:

Length: 15 3/8"

Width: 10 1/2" at one end and 11 7/8" at the other.

Good Luck!

Here's the dimensions of the icebox on my boat. I'm thinking of getting some stainless wire 1/8" or so and bending it back and forth to make a shelf for the ledge to keep things up out of the ice and water in the bottom.

Hey, Nate! Did you get the measurements for your boat? It looks like John gave you some VERY detailed drawings. I have a 1989 boat so if you need a newer boat measurement, let me know. My boat is sitting on the trailer outside.
Also, someday I'd like to trailer over to Lake Mead and park my boat in a slip there. My brother now lives in Boulder in a trailer park about 10 minutes (he says) uphill from the lake and the marina close to the dam.
How hard is it to get a slip there, assuming I'd probably leave it there for a few months in the spring/early summer?
We live in Hemet (as in California), a mere 4-5 hour drive away, BTW.

Gary,
You're right, the drawings from John were great (Thanks John!). I think they will suit my need. I want to start storing stuff in the icebox in an effort to contain some things that tends to fly around the cabin underway. I may build a divider shelf or just put some sort of caddy down there to keep stuff organized. I tend to use a cooler while aboard so the icebox is space just begging to be used.
Regarding Lake Mead....I have my boat at Lake Mead Marina. In the past there have been waiting lists for a slip but as the water continues to receed, I think there are more slips opening up. Some folks take their boats out in winter (why?) only to find they don't have a slip when they want to return for the summer. Currently, I pay around $170.00/mo for my slip. That is bare bones with water but no power/cable.
I can't tell you about the other marinas on the lake but would warn you to check them out first. Calville Bay is nice but all the way across the basin and the walk from the parking lot to the slips is a killer! Las Vegas Bay Marina is fine but exposed....they had to move the entire marina this fall when the water kept dropping.
Another reason I would recommend Lake Mead Marina is that 90% of the sailboats on the lake are berthed there. Two sailing clubs are based there and we have a great population of sailors...racers and cruisers alike. You are more than welcome to come out and go for a sail with me or drop me a line if you have more questions about the marina/lake.

Thanks, Nate. You may very soon find me "hangin around" the marina gate one weekend VERY soon. I need to get out there and visit with my younger brother within the month....and maybe do a night trip to Vegas...
Also, my niece and her hubby live somewhere just west of Vegas in a nice, new house so have to visit her also.
Will be in touch soon because, even though this would be a trip to the area to "visit" , what I would really be there would be to sail!
As I think about this we may have to do this in the next several weeks....BTW, how's the sailing right now?
