I spent quite a bit of money just moving the winches from the mast to the cockpit and blocks to run ALL the sheets to the cockpit. Well worth it!!!

I added roller furling. Expensive. 135 Jenny Well worth it !!!

However my latest toy.......Raytheon ST 1000 Auto helm.....PRICELESS

I am 75 and sail alone in Albemarle Sound. Went out yesterday.

Wind Southwest 10-15 and almost didn't turn around to come home. Mostly 10 knots
Beam reach for the length of the sound

I cooked breakfast and ate enjoyed a cup of coffee.

At times I hit 6 knots. Auto pilot worked great.

I must admit it takes up its own room in the cockpit. Enjoy it and stay out of the way

Forgot....I purchased Navionics USA cost $55.00. Well worth it, it has all of the buoys and a lot more info. You can check it out for 1 day for free. If you have an IPAD with Internet it tracks you.
Bad news is I am having surgery Wednesday and will be out of action for 6 weeks.

1998 Catalina 250WK
Ravaging
Albemarle Sound,NC

I spent most of my money on boats and beer, the rest I just wasted.

spend the 6 weeks planning your future trips.

Hope the surgery goes well and you can get to the boat sooner!

Yup--an autopilot is very cool, but to my wife and me, primarily as day-sailors, roller furling changed our lives! (Now that I've lost her, perhaps I would have reversed those priorities--if I still had the boat.)

Enjoy it all!
