While flipping through the recent issue of Cruising World -- a magazine that like so many other sailing publications has increasingly focused on multi-hull vessels -- I saw an advertisement for Gemini Catamarans that in large print said"Made in America built by Catalina Yachts" using the official Catalina yacht logo. Is this a new Catalina brand to address the increasing interest by sailors in catalans or are they only doing private label manufacturing? The boat in the picture appeared to be @35" boat. Just curious . . . .

Gemini is a long established catamaran brand. It will be interesting to see what the relationship is.

I believe it is "... they only doing private label manufacturing". For a few years Gemini were being built by Hunter.

I'll add what I know..............
Some of it fact, much of it speculation, part of it made up.........
Tony Smith had been producing Gemini catamarans for many years in Annapolis Maryland. My speculation is that he was a "hands on" manufacturer. When he retired he turned the reigns over to his daughter. Not so much "hands on", the manufacturing was contracted out to Hunter.

Hunter produced the Legacy model of the Gemini. After a few years, Hunter was facing bankruptcy, David Marlow purchased what was left of Hunter but had no interest in the contract. Catalina entered into a contract with Gemini to produce the now new Legacy model.

In any case, I have been on both models produced by both Hunter and Catalina. The Catalina produced model is, in my opinion, built with much better quality.

Anyhow, I prefer the 105Mc version of the boat..........
I know, I know I might be slightly swayed.........
