Cruising with another boat to Catalina first week in august. Anyone have any must do's or things to stay away from. It's our first time and any ideas are appreciated.

Feed the dog, Let the cat out and cover your ears if you encounter any singing mermaids. Probably missed a few but....Oh yeah, Have a great time!

I sailed 5 years ago to Avalon with Steve Auerbach on his C250 out of Newport Beach. We were surprised to see that the museum on the lower level of the Casino was holding their opening reception on the day we arrived. We joked that they must have been honoring us with wine and cheese, after our brave passage across the ocean!

The museum gives you a sense of the history of the place, including Rigley's Chicago Cubs spring training there in the old days! Have fun!

The two-line mooring system in Avalon harbor is interesting.

Fair winds on your voyage!

Thanks for the comments. We made it to Dana point in about 10 hours and about the same to two harbors. Everything went smooth aside from a lot of motoring. Great sunny weather all week with good snorkeling and hikes. The trip home was motor sailing to Dana. Dana to SD we saw 10 to 15 kt winds and a fun challenging sail. Feeling a little boaty on Monday though. It was a great trip.
