My last crew member was born last night at 2230!! Camden Charles weighed in at 7 pds 14 ozs....a little on the light side for rail meat right now but a few doses of high octane boob-juice and he will be ready. Baby and Mom are both doing great and will be home in the morning. Just thought I'd share..........

What a blessing! Congratulations!

But if he's a little light for rail meat, then you've got a crew to go to leeward and adjust sail trim while the rest of the rail meat fights to keep the boat level.

Is the saying "son of a gun" derived from when a sailor has a son, his crewmates fire a canon. Or something like that.

Anyway, if I'm right, maybe we could, at least, offer a toast, or go find a canon to fire.

AIN'T IT JUST MARVELOUS...CONGRATULATIONS TO THE ADAMS FAMILY...GIVE MOM AND CC A HUG FROM VAL...GENTLY THOUGH THEY'VE HAD A ROUGH CROSSING.

NOW SOMEONE MENTIONED CANNON...DANG I LOVE CANNONS...GOT SEVEN OF THEM IN THE BARN AS WE SPEAK...MAGICALLY, ONE IS LOADED. I DON'T KNOW WHY. PERHAPS WAITING FOR JUST SUCH A MOMENT AS THIS. LATER TODAY I'LL FIRE THE CANNON IN HONOR OF THE SON OF A GUN.

My big brother David is two minutes older than me. He's going to crew for me to Bimini. We've always been best friends. Used to be people couldn't tell us apart. But now he has me by about forty pounds.
