Lordy Lordy, I thought this day would never come, Calista went in today and do I ever love her when her bottom is clean. So there was a hell of a lot of wind but with a third of her new 150 genny out she was making speeds that you wouldn't believe...I smiled. The speedo said 7.4 the gps said 6.2 so it seems I was sailing into a head wind/current of 1.0 knts. Took her home and set up her lines at the slip. Finally another season of sailing.

I spend the off season wondering what's wrong with me teeter tottering all over but when I'm on board it all makes sense I was just looking for the tossing deck of the ole gal. Well she's back and like I said I"m smiling.

I'm right behind you, sort of,...I hope to be in on May 1st. Pulled the cover off her this past weekend and I've been washing and cleaning since then. Hopefully, this weekend I'll get the bottom done.

Planning to launch "Quiet Time" next Saturday for the first time this year. I got dry storage at Folsom Lake, and she is 90% rigged. I still need to get the jib bent onto the furler and spend a few hours cleaning her, but that will have to wait until the parking area near the restrooms is vacated of all the boats and trailers that are currently blocking it. Unfortunately, the dry storage lot has neither water faucets or electricity, so everyone that needs to use water or power tools has to wait for the winter-storage boats that are blocking the restroom to clear out. These boats are all supposed to be out of that parking by the first weekend in April, but every year there are a few boat owners that don't get around to it for several weeks, making the rest of us wait.

Wow, this is a change, you guys are splashing and I'm hauling out! I'm going the bottom and other sundry work like installing two new transducers. You know there's just something wrong with putting holes in the bottom of your boat eh? Can't wait to have the speedo so I can see what Lucky Star is doing, especially after she gets a new bottom! Glad to hear those that are splashing, sure makes working all week tougher when you'd rather be sailing! Happy sailing everyone!

You mean someone from way north in Long Island actually launched before me here in sunny Virginia!!!???<img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle> I've got to stop working so hard w/ work & home remodeling and go sailing! Mayfield Yacjt club had the first Spring work party last Saturday and ice was still on the lake. During the past few weeks the lake has come up, and on Saturday was about 6 feet below full. Our docks were floating and during the morning the ice shifted and in a matter of moments docks jutted up into the air.

This w/e was meant to put docks in, but is deignated for repair work, delaying getting the docks ready for another week.

Was up to the Lake House Tuesday, a beautiful day low 80's and the ice was getting ready to drop, but was still on the lake!

Oh well, that's what I get for living so far north! <img src=icon_smile_dissapprove.gif border=0 align=middle>

Well Don if it's any consolation to you the boat's in the water but the weather has turned life threatening. And so it goes. It's times like these that the remark, "people make plans and GOD chuckles", has special meaning. Perhaps if you developed a plan to use the ice comercially it will magically disappear. You needn't do more than talk it up around the lake...worth a try.
