are you talking about the forward hatch replacement that Catalina Difect (oops, I meant Direct) sells? If so I have done the replacement and am very happy with it. I used screw type latches from West Marine. In fact I used a telescopic hatch lift and gaskets from west marine also.
A few pointers (if it's the clear forward hatch) keep the protective paper on till all the fitting and holes are drilled. Drill slowly, as the heat of friction can melt the plexiglass. you may need to put teak shims in to accomodate the various deck designs where the hinges attach to the hatch.
Take the old plastic skylight parts out. There's one on the deck and one in the interior liner. Clean the old adhesive out completely.
Then apply a bead of Boat Life or other marine sealant to the lip in the opening and place the new plastic skylight on the lip.
It's a pretty easy job. But don't use 3M 5200 for the sealant. The 5200 is a permanent adhesive - so if you break the skylight in the future, it'll be just about impossible to fix.
I notice the R and F sit one above the other on the keyboard...so was ,"DIFECT" a typo or are you making a sly statement? In any event it was todays first chuckle.
