Some time back Ken Cave posted an item in technical tips showing a transducer attached to the keel skeg. I would like to do the same but I am not sure if I can put screws into the skeg; or should I epoxy the unit to the skeg. Need help again.
I don't remember exactly how Ken secured his transducer, but you can certainly use self-tapping screws to secure the angle bracket to the skeg. I'd put a ring of boatlife sealant around and in each hole to seal out the water.
However, I still favor simply using epoxy to "glue" the transducer to the inside of the hull.
Bill, thanks for your input. I have tried and tried to get both a puck and the transom transducer to respond through the hull but with zero success. I think this is my last hope.
