I've heard that the Whitbread crews wish that the boat designers should have to crew for at least one leg to see just how uncomfortable their boats really are.

I've never been on a Whitbread boat, but from what I have come to understand, life in general sucks aboard. People come back with fungal this and bacterial that from living in foul weather gear for weeks or longer without a shower. You freeze your &lt;insert your own anatomical word here&gt; off one week and then sweat your &lt;insert more anatomy here&gt; the next. The food sucks, the excretory facilites are a bare minimum and a concrete floor might be more comfortable than the bed/hommock/sleeping area you get. I heard they did have coffee though?

The boats are fast ....Were do I sign up?

Last week ender we took we had my wife, the 6 year old, the 3 year old, my college buddy, and a friend from work. Privacy, we don't need no stinking privacy.

At night (when on a hook) I take the porta potti out to the cockpit. That way the user can close the hatch with either the boards or zip up the pop top cover if in use. Smells and sounds (my wife won't go if she thinks someone will hear her) all stay out side. When at a dock we just put up the cockpit boom tent for more privacy.

Here are further pictures of the head doors on Triska and how they latch and are attached to the sliding hardware. This type of slider should be found in your local hardware store. Its a lot like a drawer slider.<img src="http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b3d823b3127cce88b24947beeb0000001610" border=0><img src="http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b3d823b3127cce88b24baebe030000001610" border=0><img src="http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b3d823b3127cce88b248607f640000001610" border=0><img src="http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b3d823b3127cce88b24a18fe2d0000001610" border=0><img src="http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b3d823b3127cce88b2491c3f800000001610" border=0><img src="http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b3d823b3127cce88b24af8fecd0000001610" border=0><img src="http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b3d823b3127cce88b24af97ffc0000001610" border=0>
The whole idea is the forward door is on hindges at the left/port side and swings backward into the head. When open it is used to close off view to the head when not in use and allow direct access into the V berth. The sliding door is latched open / slid back into the head area then the forward door swings open and latches to it. This holds both doors in the stow possition. The aft door / slider slides from the forward side of the bulkhead on the head side. When closed it latches on the stbd bulkhead. When stowed its in the head area. Those boats with a large compression post may need wooden stand offs for the track so it clears the forward part of the post. Hope some of this helps.
