The set up shown below probably breaks a number of safety requirements, but until I become liquid enough to buy a real auto pilot (right after I get my spinnaker sheets, GPS, cockpit cushions etc.), this $1.39 bungee cord does a pretty good job.
Instruction for use: Take auto pilot device and insert one end into eye of port locker latch. Make one 360 degree loop of the auto pilot around tiller and hook other end of auto pilot into eye of starboard locker latch. Viola. Auto pilot is activated. Recommended for short periods of time in light to medium winds. <img src="http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b3d837b3127cce89df6a1725b00000001610" border=0>
Bill, It looks/works very similar to my "Tiller Tamer" device mounted on top of my tiller. Works great for Potty breaks, line adjustments, etc...Believe I got it from West Marine.
