I have a question about the mainsail that came with our '84 standard rig.The previous owner purchased a new 4800 cruise sail in 3/2000 but I think the sail is too short. I rigged it up yesterday and the back end of the sail sits maybe 12"-18" from the end of the boom. The sail dimensions on the sales receipt are as follows: I=29.000 J=10.250 P=24.660 E= 9.580 Any opinions would be much appreciated. Thanks! Ed La Dolce Vita
That doesn't sound far off to me. Remember that our booms are long so the main sheet boom to traveler angle won't take our heads off when tacking. I have a newer main from Ullman and there is probably that much boom showing.

I am new to sailing and have seen the letters IPJE but have never seen what the letters stand for. Would appreciate it if someone would explain. Thanks.

When I installed an internal outhaul on a neighbors 1986 C-25 I discovered that my 1981 boom was several inches longer than the 1986. Cost reductions . . . ?
Thank you for all the responses. Now I feel better! Since upgrading to the 25' I feel totally ignorant and have much to learn. This forum is great and I try to read it as much as possible. Our maiden voyage should be interesting. There is no doubt that she will handle quite differently than our 22. I also have no doubts that I will be back with many more questions! Thanks again! Ed
