A man and his daughter went missing after taking an 8 foot boat out into the Atlantic. Luckily they were rescued. Here is the story:

I would suggest they were not thinking! Well maybe that is to harsh, they did think enough to hold on to the boat then swim 5 hours to shore. Wonder if they had PFDs.

Some stories like this one are almost to much to beleve. Sad but true some adults would put their child in such danger. A recent accident close to home here in Washington brought this point to light. A man bought his 17 year old daughter a new car for graduation and doing a good job in school. He took her with him to pick it up. She drove the car home and he drove his. On the way home in the oncomming lane a drunk driver traveling at 100mph cause themself and another car to swerve out of control. Comming in the opposit direction were the father and daughter. Dad was in front and swerved to avoid the drunk only to look into his rear view mirror and watch his daughter be hit head on. Yes Im so sorry to say she died instantly. She was to have gotten her drivers license in three days on her birthday and also had no insurance. How do you think Dad feels about having put his daughter in this situation. Pleas think before you put yourself or a loved one in harms way

The Dad picked up his 11 year old daughter in Boca Raton at 5:30pm drove (Floridians help me out here) 75-80 miles to Melborn Beach. An hour and a half at best? Then got the boat off the truck and drug it to the water <b>THEN</b> started sailing. The girl said she slept through <b>MOST</b> of the night and awoke as the boat was sinking.
I’m sorry, this is more than stupidity.
Picked her up from where? And why take her 75-80 miles away and go sailing at 7:30 – 8:00pm in an unseaworthy 8’ dink?

Maybe I'm just getting old, but it seems to me that people are doing stupid and stupider things. I can't imagine taking an 8' dink out in the open ocean alone, much less putting my daughter in harms way. It seems like a strange way to say "I love you."

The story was on CNN this morning. The father thought that posion gasses were spreading over all of Florida and had to get away. He is being held for pysch eval.
