Did anyone else get spammed by Cruising Direct again? It appears to me they're using our membership list as a free marketing tool once again. They have no other reason to have my name and e-mail address...

IMHO, they should be paying the association or leaving us alone.

Yes, I got their spam.

I know its the principle of them hijacking our email addresses then spamming us, but getting spammed by a sail loft is a tad better than getting spammed for penile enlargements, Viagra, breast enlargements, porn sites, mortgages, prescriptions,...... <img src=icon_smile_angry.gif border=0 align=middle>

Common Don, we all know you love those breast enlargement spams.

Dave - I don't think they are using our list, otherwise everyone would be getting the mail on this site. I also have purchased from them and they have my email address, however did not get the spam.

Its very possible they bought a list from any of a number of places. Not to say that they couldn't have raided our list, that is possible too, it just seems unlikely.

I got that e-mail as well. I actually found it kind of usefull. Gives me an idea of what a new main would cost....
Compared to some of the crap you get in your in-box, this wasn't bad at all.

Our membership list is posted on the internet with no indication that it is copyrighted, or that its use is limited in any way, or that rights to it are reserved in any respect, or to any organization. I don't see any legal reason why Catalina Direct would be obligated to pay anyone to use it.

However, because it annoys some of our members, it seems to me that it would be foolish and counterproductive for Catalina Direct to spam our members, at the risk of alienating the very people who are most likely to do business with them.

They didn't. It was Cruising Direct (sail distributors). I guess they got me from somewhere else... I'll drop the issue.

I also got the message and have never bought anything from them or visited their site. But I agree with most others that I would rather get hit with this than more porn, mortgage offers, penis enlargements, etc.

I haven't gotten any spam from Cruising Direct. I don't think its from this organization's list.

As for the other spam: I don't need viagara, penis (or any other) enlargement, I don't want to see any girls, & I just refinanced my mortgage thank you very much. I think half my email these days is pure spam & that's not counting the junk from the airlines/hotels/rental car that I have an accout with. Sheesh!
