i was wondering if there is any difference between the fin keel and wing keel in preformance. i obviously know the wing allows for more shallow waters, but does the fin have any advantages over the wing?

Better performance upwind with a fin. They point closer to the wind.

I'm guessing that the fin keel is a little quicker on the tacks too.

Longer keel = more longitudinal stability,
but you pay for it by losing some time in the turns.

(Above is based on logic rather than direct experience with them)

The fin is also a little heavier.
