I'm looking to upgrade my water tank from the 5 gal unit under the sink to something larger under the v-berth. I've reviewed Arlyn's setup and it includes some really great information, but what I'm also curious about is how the factory is installing the v-berth water tank on the newer model 250s. Questions that come to mind is...What's the make and model on the tank, what's the orientation in the v-berth and how is it secured from moving? Fill plug location and orientation of hoses and tank inlets and outlets would also be helpful. Other's experiences/input with a water tank upgrade would also be appreciated.

Thanks,

Paul

I can tell you how my water tank is on my 2000wk.

I don't know the brand. I have looked on the tank for this. It must be where I can't see, if it is on it at all.

If you were to sit on the bow side of the cabin table the tank would be right under your butt. It runs long ways from port to starboard. If you look in the bow storage area it is flush (straight down) with the back part of the opening. It is strapped down with metal straps going over the fiber glassed-in platform bow to stern.

The fill plug is located in the top port side corner and has a hose running to a deck thru hull fitting located in the anchor locker.

There are 2 outlets down low, one on the port side witch has a hose running to the head sink and a starboard one going to the galley sink. The air vent deck fitting is also located in the anchor locker.

Hope this helps.

Paul,

I am also looking to add water storage. the only tank that I have found that will fit is the 9 gallon Todd Marine Tank. Look at www.tank-depot.com. If you find anything else, please let me know.

The Todd 9 gal fits well with space for two of them under the V berth just forward of the bulkhead to the center board trunk.

Tee them together. Run the ventline foward into the anchor locker opposite of the vent for the ballast tank.

Either a forced fill can be used or a gravity fill with a deck plate. I use the force fill and use the boats 15' hose coming from the blaster pump... with a bypass valve that opens for filling.

I chocked them tight to the bulkhead by use of a 3/4" piece of plywood cut to fit the angles formed by the way the two tanks sit... plywood is glued to the floor of the locker with PL400 construction adhesive and has held well for six years now.

Along the same lines, my 5 gal container cracked and is unusable. Does anyone know where a replacement can be found? The 5 gal is just fine for me for hand washing and rinsing out cups etc...

Thanks
