I am transfering the title to my boat to another state and the new state wants an pencil rubbing of the haul ID. I know where the serial number plate is, showing the 2623 number. But they want a hual ID number that starts with CTK then goes about ten numbers. I have looked everywhere for this and cannot find it. I am sure I have seen it before, but I think the sunlight is getting to my brain, because I have no idea where it is. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Tim - We found our hull id # on the stern starboard side right under the rubrail. It's hard to see but it's there and looks like it was etched by hand.
I'm in Massachusetts and had the same issue. Never did find the engraved number, but they were very happy to accept the rubbing from the Catalina plate inside the transom (4-digit), together with the NY registration which had the whole (original) number on it.
Man! You guys are great! For the past 2 years I've been thinking my hull ID # was sanded off and some yahoo hand engraved one. Now I know that I'm not the lone ranger...er..uh... skipper!
When I transferred title to Indiana, a county deputy had to come and inspect/confirm the hull ID #. He too thought that some previous owner had etched one after the fact.
Halleluha! I'm not losing my mind....or my hull ID #!
