When I moved osmepneo from Nyack NY to The Great Sacandaga Lake, NY I had Alcove Carriers transport the boat and was very pleased wqith their work. Don't know what geographic range they serve, but their phone number is 518-384-0689.

No, I'm not sailing on the Big Muddy as the locals call it sometimes. Although I have read some interesting stories on the web about those who have sailed the Ohio R and the Mississippi R all the way to the Gulf.
In Greater Cincinnati is a tri-state area with a few lakes for us to sail on: -Brookville Reservior (Indiana) -Rocky Fork Lake (Ohio) -Cave Run Lake (Kentucky)
Also in Kentucky the Bluegrass Games has a rather competitive sailing event for centerboard boats.
Rod, I've had good luck with Cross Country Boat Transport in Hastings, MN, although that was trucking and not pulling a trailer. Have you thought about finding a friend with a mid range pickup who might do it for gas and expenses. Heading south will sound good for us Minnesotans in a couple of months. Most of the commercial movers will be pretty loaded up going south before long and the "good deals" are to be had moving boats north on otherwise empty trucks. Cross Country's number is (651) 437-2454, and they are very pleasant to work with. Ellis
If you haven't visited Brookville Lake yet, let me know when you're in the area, and I'll be happy to show you around the lake and take you for a sail. I think it's the nicest facility in the area.

Cave Run is nice (most of Kentucky's lakes are nice - clean and deep ) but drive time compared to boat usage is key. Roughly one hour to Brookville is hard to beat.
Any one have similar recommendations for a boat hauler (on the truck rather than towed) going west (arizona) to east (Northern Virginia)? Also, any experience or ranges of cost per mile?

Thanks for the help with the info about the hauling companies.
Also, thanks for offering to show me around Brookville. Last year I had the opportunity to sail on Brookville. I had my Catalina 22 on Rocky Fork and will put my 25 there as well.

I too live in Northern KY and have a C25. I kept it at Brookville Lake for many years but, have been sailing on the Ohio River near Markland Dam which is about half way between Northern KY and Louisville, KY. Both locations have their pro's and con's. Please contact me when you reach the area. Good luck with your transporting.
Since I started this post about Boat Hauling I thought I should update the forum with my lessons learned.
#1 When searching for trucking companies to assist with the move it is better to search Google with "Boat Transport" rather than "Boat Haul"
#2 The trucking companies will compete for your business. Negotiate price and timing with them. Sort of like buying a used car, you have to work them a bit. Even if they send you a quote, call them and give them a chance to beat the competition.
#3 Never, never, never give them a deposit.
#4 You are never locked in to any transporter until they have your boat on their truck. You can always switch transporters. This is an advantage that can be used for negotiation.
Here's a link for a directory of boat transport services. There is a feature for bidding out a haul job- you can sometimes get a good deal from a driver who's returning empty from a job and can pick you up along the way.
I now sail on Pueblo Reservoir, which is located on the front range of the Colorado Rockies. I grew up in the Cincinnati area and spent weekend on Brookville Lake with my parents from 1974 to 1985. My wife and I moved to Colorado the summer of 1989. During visits back home after my dad moved his boat to Rocky Fork (summer of 1992 I think) I have sail with him a couple of times there as well.
