I checked my rudder pintles and gudgeons. They appear to be the old style, judging from the pictures of newer ones in the Catalina Direct catalog. I don't want to replace them if I don't have to. What I'm wondering is, are there bushings available for the original gudgeons? As I had written earlier I'm getting vibrations in my rudder at times.

Randolph, I feel your pain. My 1982 also was getting a little sloppy until I fixed. So easy you would not believe. Go to Ace Hardward and pick up two brass bushings with a small lip on the end which will fit over the pintles and drill out the hole in the gudgeon to accomodate the bushing. That was in the spring and so far no rattle. They may come out this fall at mast down but they will go in tool box and reinstalled next spring. The most expense was for a large drill bit,I believe 1/2 but measure first to accomodate the bushings which are inexpensive. If not clear let me know. Good luck

You might also wrap the pin with a good adhesive type teflon tape. It will need to be replaced each season but it works too.

You might want to give CD a call, there are tons of items not in the catalog that the staff knows about. They are also very well versed on these and other things.
