Not readily visible as it faces the asphalt/inside of the boat......however the load on the CB is a side load, not a twisting load. So it would surprise me.....but I will check next time I'm in a position to look at it.
Jerry: The anchor locker was fine visually and the dealer put the anchor together and placed it in the locker when it was empty so I'm sure he inspected it also. I haven't checked the cockpit combings yet. We have had a lot of rain in the last week and I've been to the boat twice to check for leaks and so far haven't found any and no water in the bilge, but I will double check them today or tomorrow...I may be naive but I thought a little extra care would go into the quality control with a boat as compared to a vehicle which is much easier to drive to the dealer for repairs for factory oversights. They also must think that because it is winter everyone takes their boat out of the water and doesn't use it. Glad to hear you are getting things fixed...maybe Catalina should hire their quality control folks from the Forum I would have thought that they subject the boats to some kind of water test that would see if there are any leaks...but in companies across the board, "Risk Management" is the operative term. Then denial, and stonewalling. Can you imagine how it was when there was no instant communication regarding things like this...I would have thought after what happened to your first boat that the factory would have made sure that Penny II was examined with a fine tooth comb before it left the factory...so much for high expectations...Hopefully Arnold will buy a C250

OK, which one of these smileys shows a guy choking on his coffee....hmmmm....
Catalina's QC is lacking. Period. The cubby hole problem has been around for twenty something years.....

Maybe not intentionally, but in reality, yes.
Fortunately we are talking to each other and can send a guy to take delivery of his new yacht with a good check list in hand.....
Dan, don't bet your life savings on the dealer checking the anchor locker for weak points. Take a wooden dowel or handle of a hammer and start tapping along the top 1/3rd of the anchor locker, especially were the cut out is for the rode to go through when the locker door is shut. If you don't break through yours was done correctly. We have had some big wind blown rains here lately and I haven't found any leaks in the head window. I will hit it with the hose just to make sure in the morning when I wash the bugs off of her before taking her for repair.
Same Rudder - different crack - anyone experience this crack on the side between the pintles ? It's only on one side - doesn't line up with the mounting holes and doesn't extend above or below the strap. C250K - #690
I've got a couple of questiond pertaining to the stress cracks on the rudders.
Are all of the stress cracks on the water ballast boats?
I think Catalina has more than 1 manufacturing site, can you tell where the boat was manufactured?
Is this issue (the PC way of saying problem) across all years or is it just on a specific year or year span?
I am wondering if one of the factories had to change the mixture of glass and gel coat due to newer EPA standards in the area. I remember back in the late 70's early 80's when the paint on cars was flaking. This was due to newer standards put in place by the EPA, so the car manufactures were trying to mix the paint with the new chemicals to fall into the newer rules.
The post above yours, FrankR’s signature says C250K. All of the c250's a produced at the California factory. There has been a couple of wing keel owners report the same problem in this thread.

(still waiting for my new tiller handle and chip repair...so far no new cracks after leading edge repair!)
