I own C-25 WK Tall Rig #5883, a '89 Mark IV with an inboard diesel engine. I am realizing that it may be more rare than I had thought. Does anyone know how many of the Mark IVs were made with the inboard? It's a Universal Model #12 engine. I think the boat was based in Chicago and San Diego prior to ending up at Cheney Lake, Kansas, one of the greatest inland sailing lakes around.
I also have the 12hp universal and our hull is a 1990 WK SR #6021 of 6031. I was told there were only 20 1990's made, and they were all custom orders. I'm guessing most of the Mark IV's were custom order, due to the high price tag and the the lack of sales at the time. Our C25 inboard w/ furling and trailer out the door was nearly $40,000 in 1990. With that kind of price tag, you know there are very few inboards.

The first Mark IV was hull #5803, built June 13, 1987, and the last was #6031 (buld date unconfirmed but possibly November or December 1990). That's a total of 228 Mark IV's built, and the number of these with the inboard diesel has been reported by various sources to be in the 40~50 range, exact number unconfirmed.
Larry Charlot Catalina 25WK/TR Mk. IV #5857 "Quiet Time" Folsom Lake, CA
I have an 88 which Is a mk4. I don't know the build date but it is 5775. I have the wing, low floor but I do not have the cabinet above the curtain burner as I have seen on a few late 25's. Tom
Thanks for the information. I'm in my second year with my Catalina and learning a lot. Just jumped in without a lot of information. Raced a Snipe in my younger years and was without a boat for many years. Just getting ready to winterize her, although it will be another 2 to 3 weeks before I haul her out. Hope to get a few more autumn cruises in.
Steve Perry - smp817 Love & Luck, '89 WK, TR, #5883, Inboard Diesel Cheney Lake, Wichita, KS
Steve - In case you didn't already know, there is another Catalina 25 owner on Lake Cheney that is active on this forum, namr of Frank Hopper I believe. So, you have a potential friend and fellow Catalina 25 owner right in your own neighborhood.
Larry, thanks. Have talked to Frank a couple of times. Sounds like he knows a lot about Catalinas. By the way he is trying to organize our Catalina fleet of 10 boats and will be attempting to get the Nationals here at Lake Cheney. Central location, great and active sailing club with new clubhouse, lots of steady wind. Check out www.ninnescah.org
