Hello,

Have any of you changed the water pump impeller? I removed the lower end of the lower unit assembly, but it only came out about 2". I think I have to release the shift rod. Is this done up by the shifter or elsewhere?

Any help at all would be great!

Thanks,

On the older Honda motors, there's a small clevis pin in the shift linkage at the top of the vertical shift inside the front of the cowl that has to be removed before the lower unit can drop free. That's on the B-75 and B-100 series engines. Not sure about other Honda models.
On older Yamaha and OMC motors, the shift shaft splits into upper and lower pieces near the lower steering pivot bearing.

Thanks Leon. I did see this very small clevis. Oh boy, that will be fun to remove and reinstall
