Any Help on the best way to make the rubrail look relatively new?Tried using elbow grease and acetone but didn't seem to do much. Thank you.

Hi Scott,

I used "Zap 2000" and it did a respectable job. BTW, I didn't buy the stuff from one of their TV ads ... I found it at Sam's Club. Also, a little Armor-all helped brighten it up after I cleaned it.

Haven't done it yet, but it looks like a classic application for SoftScrub--one of the best tools on the boat.

Rubbing compound took all the black marks and scuffs off mine.

Hi, I would be very <u></u>careful about using acetone it will dissolve your boat. I use simply green and for the tough stuff a little rubbing compound and a damp cloth works wonders. That is when the boat is clean, usually I just like to sail.

last year after doing my brightwork in cetol my neighbor asked how i did the rub rail to match!

$75 to Catalina Direct gets you a brand spankin' new rubrail...I switched from the stock tan to a blue/gray. The difference in appearance is HUGE!

Headhunter,

How difficult is it to install the new rubrail? Do you have to have the boat out of the water? I've had my boat out for bottom jobs twice since I've owned it, but I've never had much success cleaning the rubrail. $75 seems like a pretty

It's real easy to install...the old one just kinda peels out (I had two screws holding the ends in at the stern). You don't want to do this in the winter unless you've got access to hot water. You need to roll out the new rubrail and let it sit in the s

I think I'll replace it.The dock mgr.said the rail is sunbaked and won't come clean.So I'll just get another one.I looked on the Catalina Direct website and didn't see the rubrail.How do I find it on the site or elsewhere?

Scott - after rolling it out and letting it warm up, if you get one end started behind the transom (and screw it down in the hole provided) it will go in rather easily if you pull on the free end (it sort of thins it and stretches it) and bend it back at
