My 89 vintage Flexible Furler is difficult to turn when furling. Anyone have same furler with same problems and knows what to do to fix it? Is there a retro bearing kit to make it work perfect so I don't have to think about buying a new one?

This past summer I had the same problem with our CDI FF2. I lifted the drum and cleaned everything really good, it worked much better. That said, I think Santa may be bringing me the bearing this Christmas. They cost about $70.00. thru www.sailcdi.com.

Not sure about your furler or it's bearings but a couple of times a year I run alcohol through mine to desolve the salt deposits.

I had the same problem with my 89 CDI FF4. I had to use two hands to get it to furl and even then sometimes it would seem to jam. I just ordered a bearing retro kit and a new stainless drum with the larger opening. This should help the friction problem and make it easier to get the furling line at the correct angle. The bearing kit was $99 and the new drum was $75. I believe that should take care of the problem.

Kip, Ron, Doug, and Bruce:
A bearing kit....YES, that should do the trick.
Thanks for the link to the kit. I will order ASAP (or ASAIHT$$$)
