Hi all, I'm needing an anchor bow roller for Adventurous and I wanted to find out what ya'll recommend. The one I'm thinking of using is found on Sailnet for $60.00

Because your boat has the long bow tang on the stem fitting you do not need the CD upgrade with roller, so I would think what you have picked is a good one.

I have the same bow roller. Has worked well for the past 4 years. The only problem I have had with it (and this may be common with other makes) is the rubber roller doesn't roll very well and quickly wears out. I have replaced the roller every spring, easily found at West Marine. We anchor out frequently, I really appreciate the convenience of the bow roller.

A few years ago I bought a Windline AR-2 roller (the one you pictured is the AR-3) for $30. It helps greatly in protecting the rub rail while lowering/retrieving the anchor. It also helps greatly save my back by allowing me to use much stronger leg/butt muscles while pulling the anchor in (w/ 50' of heavy chain) from a sitting position with my feet in the anchor locker, a spot much more stable than leaning over the edge of the boat, especially on a pitching deck.

I think the advantage that $30 more gets you with the AR-3 is the "pin" which keeps the rode from popping out of the roller.

I haven't noticed the problem Ed describes with the roller, although to be honest I don't know if mine has stopped rolling.

Thanks for your input, everyone. The source Eric mentioned is the way I'm going to go, I think. Those anchor rollers are a lot less expensive.
