Couldn't help myself...sailed in 50 degree weather with 20 plus gusts today, and gripped about the chill in the air. Then I turned on the weather channel later in the day and saw 12 inches up in the northeast....No question why I moved!
Sixteen inches here in Schenectady N.Y. some of the outlying hilltowns to the east, reports of thirty inches plus. It's just are insurance policy that the lakes and wells will be filled for next year. "Bear" on the hard in upstate N.Y.
Oscar, I thought you just flipped a switch and they landed themselves, only kidding of course. I'm sure any pilot flying airliners Friday and Saturday well earned there days pay. I listened to KALB approach Friday night and for a while Saturday and there were airplanes coming in to Albany N.Y. from all over. "Bear" still snow blowing.
Autoland has restrictions on wind velocity, manual land doesn't allow as low a visibility as autoland. Low visibility in high winds is hard to fit in the rules...we just barely did. Personally I like those days when the pucker factor is up.....it's a challenge. Kind of like negotiating a difficult approach into a harbor at night sucessfully. It gives satisfaction. Plus the passengers are appreciative. Ranging from the punk that says "wow duuuude" on his way out to the Senorita who crosses herself six times and then kneels and kisses the jet way.
Suzie, I know the North you were referring wasn't in California, but last night we had enough snow to cover everything and it's still holding at 2500 feet elevation in Northern California...what a difference a week makes between BVI and Northern California
Great weather and sailing in BVI, just missed the rain storm they had...if anyone is thinking of going there and chartering with the Moorings just get in touch and I can give you some hints about what to look for and what you need to make sure of to make your trip a good one...Dan #727
And I didn't see if you took the tag off of the heater...one of those things retired firefighters look for
Suzie, Thanks I hope all of your brothers are doing well, they are a brave bunch in NYC and do a Great job...I worked for the Department of Forestry so we only handled the wildland fires, and of course all of the houses now out there in the brush Nothing like NYC, out here in the wild west
I commend all who put their lives on the line for so little money. Your type of work is such a different (compared to city) but deadly animal indeed. Bless ya!
