Does anyone have any good ideas for heating the C25 cabin? I'm going out for a few nights over the holidays and I'm looking for a way to take out some of the chill.

I have an Origo 3000 and thought that maybe I could use it somehow.

Kirk, Not a bad idea. We can have heat, entertainment, and an activity the whole family can enjoy!

I seem to recall that somone had used a clay pot (turned upside down on the burner). Of course, they may have set their curtains on fire.

I purchased one of the "Mr. Heater" "Heat Buddy" portable propane heaters that was discussed in an earlier thread on cabin heating. Overall, I'm quite pleased with it. On the low setting it warms up a C25 cabin pretty quickly.

It is rated for indoor usage. (it has an Oxygen sensor to prevent carbon monoxide formation.)

$79 from www.northerntool.com (a reliable company)

I see they now offer a competitive "Dyna-glo" model for $69... (no experience with it)

I secont the Mr. Heater Idea. I used one on my trip home from Canada last year (November) Just be sure to keep some ventalation going. It puts out a great radiant heat. Well made unit with an ignitor, oxygen sensor, 2 heat settings and can be hooked up to a remote larger tank if need be.

Tom,
The inverted clay pot idea ,as far as I can remember, was first expressed by Bill Holcombe several years ago. He might come on to bring us up to speed.

Tom,<blockquote id="quote"><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id="quote">quote:<hr height="1" noshade id="quote">ideas for heating the C25 cabin<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"></font id="quote">When shore power is available, I use one of those portable 120vac electric space heaters with built in fan, maybe 500w/1000w/1500w. It works really well (but then, I'm in Florida.)

Away from shore power, I too use a "Mr. Heater" portable propane heater. I think it's the "Heat Buddy", but it doesn't say so on it, and I tossed the box. It's model #MH9B, and takes the 16oz. throw-away canisters. It can also be converted to draw from a refillable tank with an available accessory hose.

I tried using the original pressure alcohol stove to heat the cabin once, but it made the air unbreatable within a couple of minutes. It seemed very dangerous. I haven't tried the clay flowerpot idea since converting that stove to propane, but I don't see why it wouldn't work, given reasonable ventilation and close attention.
