Does anyone have anything to say about the Cleveland Boat show? We were thinking about driving up from Cincinnati this weekend, and were wondering if it is worth it. I would love to go to the Chicago Boat Show, but with a 4 and 6 year old I think it might be a bit too much. We have inlaws near Cleveland, so it seems more realistic.
I googled "Cleveland Boat Show" and found their webpage. I've never been there, but am planning on going Saturday with my wife. The webpage makes it look good to me. Part of the reason I'm going, also, is to hopefully get a ride on the Ferris Wheel at hte I-X Center. Fun stuff.
Kip, As you may already know, sailboats only count for a very small portion of the total number of boats on display. It's a nice facility with lots of vendors. Would I drive all the way from Cincinnati? Maybe if I had relatives, friends or other attactions I wanted to see . . .
I am from Cleveland and attend the show almost every year. This year I will be in Key West for Race Week. (leave tomorrow)
If the weather is nice, I would make the trip. There are hundreds of vendors with all things nautical. The sail boat section in and of itself is only a small portion but could be well worth it. I went to school at Xavier so I am very familiar with the driveThe IX center is right of 71, so depending on your location, the trip can be as little as 3 hours. (if your up around 275, Montgomery/Blue Ash/Mason area)
I would give yourself about 3 hours of walking around looking at boats. If you feel like making a day of your drive up North: The Rock and Roll Hall of fame has free admission this coming Monday, and will be just a dollar after 6 O'clock too. And the Pro Football Hall of Fame is only about another hour away.
Thanks Guys for the replies. I think were going up on Saturday and coming back on Sunday, after visiting family.
Thanks Again,
PS - Duane, you lucky dog, some of us newbies would be interested to know how to put ourselves in your shoes in the future. Maybe your whole experience would be something for the Mainsheet or Tell Tale. My brother-inlaw who we're visiting in Medina, is a Xavier alum, and I grew up in Norwood, which I'm sure your pretty familiar. with.
