I am looking at adding some storage to my cockpit for handhelds etc. I notice that alot of you guys have open boxes in the seat back (coming?) in the cockpit. Has anyone added these themselves, or did your boats come that way?
Thanks for any help.

Most C25's I've seen have those oval cutouts/storage areas as a factory 'stock' feature... matter of fact, I don't think I've seen one without them.

Chris,

My 1979 C-25 doesn't yet have coaming boxes (the little glove compartments you refer to). I believe that Catalina Yachts parts department has, or can pull together, a retro fit kit to install the factory version.

Another possibility is to just get the teak or plastic trim ring from Catalina, and fabricate your own box inside the coaming. If you go that route, be sure to think through the design carefully. It needs to drain, but not inside the boat, even if the boat is a few degrees out of trim in any direction. The box has to get inside the coaming area somehow.

Either way, I'd plan on having snap on Sunbrella covers to keep out sun, most rain, dock cruising eye balls, and maybe keep things from falling out as easily at extreme heel angles.

But then, all I've done so far is buy the trim rings and sew the covers.
