I am the Treasurer of the Catalina 25/250 National Association. We have a very active web forum (http://www.catalina25-250.org/forum/default.asp) enjoyed by our Association membership that numbers over 700 active members.
Today, we were discouraged to learn of the utter lack of information regarding one of the all-time most popular production pocket cruisers, the Catalina 25. Please see the discussion here http://www.catalina25-250.org/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=5796
Perhaps something could be done to address this unfortunate, but most obvious, oversight.
Thank you and best regards,

“I visited your page on Catalina yachts. http://www.yachtcouncil.com/catalina.asp There is NO mention of the 6000 Catalina 25's that we own. The members of the Catalina C25/C250 National Association at http://www.catalina25-250.org/index2.html would like you to update your history of Catalina yachts so that everyone will know about the finest and most prolific coastal cruiser built in America the Catalina 25.. Thank you John Gisondi Mainsheet Contributing Editor C25/C250 National Association”
Guys, The same history is on the Catalina Factory web pages. There is no mention of C25's until the 250WB in 1994. Maybe we should send a few e-mails their way. Mike

I had seen that as well and assumed that's where the Yacht Council got their (mis) information. I'm at a loss as to why Catalina would ignore such a large and active class of their "classic", well built, long lived, highly popular, and still desireable Catalinas.

Kind of makes you feel like a red-headed stepchild.

Great response (see below), and now the ball's back in our court. Allan makes a good point in his email, in that I don't think that I've ever seen the C25 history, either. So, if anyone can point us in the right direction, then I'll make sure to provide it to Allan. <blockquote id="quote"><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id="quote">quote:<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"><font size="1"> J.B.,
I do apologize for the oversight as we are not totally familiar with these models, nor are we familiar with the manufacturer Catalina. The yachtcouncil site is a MLS for the used yacht/boat/sailboat industry. In an attempt to draw traffic to our site we looked at the top 10 manufacturers listed with in our database and promoted them by creating an individual page dedicated to that manufacturer.
I would gladly speak of these Models if I could get some informative information regarding them. I look briefly at the Catalina associations web site and found no information regarding this models.
The pages that I was directed to by you and John, was to the forum section within your web site. Although very informative on certain aspects of the Catalina 25 and 6000; I did not find one place that really talk about that model in its entirety. I would gladly include some information on the Catalina 25's and 6000 if you could direct me to an area that talks about those models, when they were introduced, etc...
Since the Yachtcouncil Web site is an association driven web site, I would gladly add your association logo and a link to the associations web site from this page. If you could send me the association logo banner I could place this on that page quickly.
Again, thank you for pointing out our oversight and if you could please point me to a specific site, or page that talks about the overall model it would be greatly appreciated.

<font size="2"> <font face="Comic Sans MS"> Don as Secty. Do you want to get him the info or should Clif do it? I think there is a brief history somewhere that Bill Holcomb put together. Also any link in the boating world to our web site (not the forum) is always helpful. I will reply with a thank you and let him know he will contacted shortly. </font id="size2"> </font id="Comic Sans MS">

<font size="2"> <font face="Comic Sans MS"> Clif, J.B. if it doesn’t sound like you’re getting a good response from Catalina I think we should offer a line or two. Remember the Yacht Council got the info from Catalina and they are done selling 25’s and want to sell 250’s so we are “old news”. Also what about his offer to have our logo as a link to the web site? I think that is worth following up on.
Hey shouldn't we have a "history" page on the web site? </font id="size2"> </font id="Comic Sans MS">
I agree with everything you said. I'll start with Catalina, see what we get, and then we'll go from there. Also, I responded to Allan with our thanks and a commitment to get a history and logo banner to him as quickly as possible.
I apologize in advance for stating the obvious . . . but this thread is a great example of the spirit of the group and why the forum is so successful .

Indeed it does look like we're luffing - we actually just popped the genoa to change tack, hence, the bow spray. Fall off and we'd be picken blackberries !!!
