I have just bought a Catalina C-25 (called a Boomaroo 25 in Oz), which has strap hinges with only 2 holes, instead of 3.

I am having real problems locating replacement hinges and would really apreciate it if anyone could help.

Jason

Hi Jason,

Welcome to the group! You are a LONG way away!

I was wondering ... what is wrong with the old hinges?

Have you tried Catalina Direct?

I can't tell you how different this Association would be if other American sailors knew us as the owners of a used "Boomaroo"...Mate...

The old hinges are literally falling apart, and unfortunately Catalina Direct only stock the 3 hole type.

If I remember correctly, Catalina used to put two-hole hinges on the forward hatch, but later put three-hole hinges on for added strength.

Why don't you fill the existing screw holes with a little fiberglass resin and drill new holes to accommodate the three-hole hinges? The old holes will be covered by the hinge, so they won't be visible.
