For those of you who are interested in visiting Washington and the San Juans I am posting this site. It has a good amount of information about the harbors and towns of our area. I hope you will all have a wonderfull season and perhaps we will meet on the water. www.nwboating.com
There are NO web sites for the Alberg 29 . The boats were manufactured by Nye yachts in Ontario Canada near Midland. There are quite a few back there and there are some that belong to the great lakes group. I found Triska up in Vanncouver Canada in Fishermans Bay , near Horse Shoe Bay. There are quite a few good deals in Canada But as our dollar weakens our advantage declines.
The Alberg has a few nice features that put it one up on the Cape Dory . Being sloop rigged she is easyer to tack and she is also slightly quicker than the Dory. They also beleve it or not are quite good in light air. In heavy conditions You can keep the main and 150 Gen up all the way up to 30Kts of wind although it becomes real work. 20Kts is a lot easyer. She will heel over to about 12 deg and then becomes rock solid. The 29 is slightly wider that the 30 and has a port side aft burth that is not present on the 30. Equiped with a 2 burner stove with oven, deisel heat, a Yanmar 2GM or 2GMF engine. The engine will push you between 5 1/2 to 6 1/2 knts and sip 1 quart an hour at 2200 rpm. You should be able to find one for around 24K U.S. or less depending on condition . Other Boats to look at along the lines of the ALberg are Cape Dory's all sizes , Pearson's (Triton) or the Alberg 30. If I can be of any help drop me an E mail . dgyoung50@msn.com additional pic's on request. http://www.angelfire.com/ca/Alberg30/ http://www.alberg.ca/ http://www.pearsonvanguard.homestead.com/files/links.htm

I expect to arrive in Bellingham on July 18th, after making a stop in Portland for the Nationals - only 4 months to go! Can't wait to pull into Fossil Bay and drop anchor the first night! Sucia is a lovely island (if you ignore the mosquitoes or bring bug repellant!)
Spent time at Sucia last year. (NO BUGS) at least not out on the boat. Dont forget to get a crabing license . Last year was great with some crabs 9" across. Our weather seems to be warming early this year so you should have a good time. Where else in the Islands do you plan to go ? I also hope to get down to Portland perhaps we will see you there.
Doug, Thank you for your info on the Alberg 29. It sounds like a great boat, and I saw the pics of yours a year or so ago. Gotta get through my daughter's wedding. Then..., who knows. Thanks again.
