I bought a few lines from a rope company called Cajun trading. The owner is looking to put together a complete KIT of running rigging. Any suggestions for length and size would be appreciated. They are already selling kits for other boats on ebay. My rope should arrive by the end of the week. I will let you know what I tink of it. Their website is

First Step in Running Rigging - Its line, not rope

You'll find that these measurements will provide more than enough line
Halyards - You'll should have more than enough line if you take the e and I measurements and the corresponding hypotenuese. For a standard rig - e is just short of 10 feet, I is 29 feet. The hypoteneuse is 30...Roughly 70 feet should allow you to run the line back to the cockpit, and go as far aft as the stern rail in case of emergency.

Jib halyard - E measurement + I measurement + Luff (headstay length)... or 10 + 29 + 30

Jib Sheets should be at least 1.5 times the length of the boat.

Spin Sheets - 2 times the length of the boat

Boom Vang and Main Sheet - (Distance between blocks plus Tail length) * (number of sheaves)

I saw their kits on Ebay, also. Price for Jib and Main halyard kit with snap shackle and splice were really reasonable. 155.00 range but what kind of quality is the question. Let us know! You might want to clue him in on all the variations that C25 sailors would be interested in so they could label their products better: tall rig, line diameter, all rope.

Waaal....If you want to split hairs...Technically it's rope until
it's applied on the vessel, then it becomes line (but not always).

Splitting hairs even further....it's rope when it's on the spool. Cut some off and it becomes line, take it on the boat and it becomes whatever its designated.

My order arrived today. It was shipped overnight. I ordered 200 ft of 5/16 to rig the new spinnaker. The rope looks identical to the west marine sta set x and cost me $.40 at foot including shipping. It weighs in at 6.2 lbs for the 200 ft. I have no idea about durability or stretch but will post feedback after I use it.

BTW The line would be called "small stuff" in the Navy.
