I was asking my local OMC repair guy about a problem I was having with my thermosat. He was a real jerk and told me he would order any parts I needed but if I wanted advice it was $55 an hour. I like to fix all of the things I own and don't mind spening the money for parts. I decided that I needed to find a source online. I found the do-it-yourself place for OMC parts on the net. It is www.theoutboardwizard.com

Here is an excerpt from their website

FREE technical help and advice 24 hours/day Via E Mail...Or...Call the shop during regular business hours to speak with the owner or other certified OMC Johnson and Evinrude technician...
Always speak with a friendly real-live person... Our customer service guidelines, are very fair and reasonable, and we are always willing to discuss any special requests or concerns...

I called and asked one of the techs about a problem I was having. He told me what parts to order, a few shortcuts not in the repair manual and got my parts for me in 3 days. I could have overnighted them but went UPS ground $15 cheaper. For a head gasket, thermostat, and a few seals it was under $40 delivered. Everything fit and the motor is now hanging back on the transom. I cannot emphasize how important it is to me as a coustomer to be trated with respect and this company will get my money in the future. Hope this helps someone else who only has limited repair shop options in their area.
