What seems to be safe and effective for removing the residual sealant that remains when deck hardware is removed in preparation for rebedding? Acetone? And how can the residue be scraped without marking up the deck? Thanks for any insights. Mike

I use "Goof Off" to disolve old sealant and, so as not to scratch the gel coat, I carefully scrape the goo off with a wood shim.
