My new to me 1982 C25 has no sailcover. The color of the boat is white and brown, I would like to get a matching sail cover, but can't seem to to find a brown or tan cover in stock at the the places I have looked and called, Any suggestions? Thanks, Jim

I have rarely, if ever, seen mass produced sunbrella sail covers in any color except Pacific Blue. You will probably have to custom-order from a sailmaker, or marine canvas shop.
Hi Jim Catalina Direct lists a "custom color" mainsail cover (#E1698) for $190 and a custom color tiller cover (D1747)for $28. You can ask the owner, Lowell, about it at 916 843-1971 (Tues-Fri 10-5 Pacific Time). Order desk is 800 959-7245. If you've had bad luck with CD, Defender's catalog page 54 lists "custom fitted any color" mainsail covers (9' - 101041 or 10'- 101042)for $180 and $210 respectively. Try them online (defender.com)or call 800 628-8225. For comparison, West Marine only offers sail covers in blue, black and green at $200 for one that supposedly fits 8.5-10.5 feet. Good luck. If you want to save a few bucks and take on a little project, Sailrite offers cover kits in any color Sunbrella you want. www.sailrite.com Good folks to deal with.
They also offer kits for sailbags, jib bags, line organizers & etc. (and of course, entire sails)
Having just sewn a new sail cover, I'd highly recommend buying one made by somebody else. The problem is with managing the weight of two 3' x 12' panels through the machine, as well as sewing hems with up to six layers of thick, tightly woven canvas material. On anything smaller, I'd certainly recommend doing it yourself. However, for sail covers I'll buy finished goods from now on.
Thank You for the ideas. I called CD on Friday and they were 5 to 6 weeks on delivery, So I guess I have waited too long to get the sailcover when I wanted it! I will look at sailnet and sailrite, maybe I can shorten up the time a bit. Happy Sailing!
When I needed a new sail cover for osmepneo I went to a local marine canvas shop, gave him the old cover, I realize you don't have one to give him, and he used it for a pattern (sp?). Cost was considerable less than others have quoted, like about $100.
Jim, I had Bob Pyfrom make me a jib bag a couple of months ago and would recommend him highly. He quoted me a mainsail cover "in the range of $10 per foot from front of mast to end of boom". Any color sunbrella you want. Send him an email "neetra@ccis.net"
I think Frank Hopper (F. Hopper on this site) is the one that turned me on to Bob so you may be able to get a little more info. from him too.

The 60" x 15' piece of Sunbrella II that I bought on eBay cost $70, so that quoted price for a 12' cover would only add $50 for labor and materials. Wish I'd known this two months ago. Thanks for sharing this with the forum, Scott and Frank.
Thanks to you guys for the reminder about my sail cover. I emailed bob last night and told him i wanted to finally order my cover and he said:
sunbrella prices have gone up so now the cost is more like $12 per foot and he thinks our cover is about 8' ($96 plus s/h). Evidently there is someone from this very forum sending him a pattern so he will have the exact measurements soon and then. . . . . . . everybody wins

The cover just reaches the end of the boom and the back of the top ties to my topping lift. I did this to cover the lines (i.e., topping lift, outhaul, reef line) that run past the end of the sail; personal preference.
Depending on the grade Sunbrella used, $96 to $144 is still a good price.
