How much work can you accomplish in four days? Installed a spinnaker halyard, tack line, turning blocks and hex ratchets. Three new rope clutches, two new deck organizers. New main halyard, new jib halyard and a new topping lift line. Reset the Windex. Changed out all blocks for new ones. Thoroughly scrubbed the bottom, prepped, constructed two separate stands for jacking, using a grinder replaced all bolts in the trailer bunks, repaired a ding in the keel and painted with VC17m. Also washed the whole boat after painting. Time for a cold brew and splash tomorrow !!!

Ok here is the result from all that hard work. New bottom paint, a great time sailing and an Alaskan Amber Ale...life is good.

The mountain in the back ground is South Sister. We are going to climb that one in August. The lake is Elk Lake about 30 miles south of Bend Oregon. I installed the adjustable back stay a month ago. I am not sure how much value it will bring at this point but its fun to tinker.

Tony:

Bend, Bachelor, Three Sisters, et al are old stomping grounds for camping, skiing, backpacking and fishing. Where else besides Elk Lake do you sail? Bend is a great little town (although not so "little" any more).

We had put in at Klamath in April. Great winds a lot of space to sail, Klamath is 26 miles long and several miles wide but the lake is shallow and very brown. There is plenty opportunity to sail at many varied site's here in Oregon, we are hoping to get to Waldo and Odell this year too.

We are heading up to the San Juan's in July and to the Nationals in Portland.

Bend is growing by leaps and bounds, but when you find a resort town like this with its many outdoor activities and adventures its quite understandable why its growing so fast. Snowboarding, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, mountain biking, mountain climbing, camping , hiking, fly fishing, river rafting, great golf courses (26 with in 20 miles of Bend),superb restaurants. The city puts on a summer series at Drake Park every year called Munch and Music with a lot of the local restaurants setting up booths with great food before the concerts. A great place to live.

Effort equals results. The bottom painting of Trading Time was a lot of work and time consuming. But it was worth the effort. My up wind speeds in 10 to 12 knot winds went from in the high five's to the mid six's. The bottom had a pretty good growth of algae on it and now nothing but VC17m !!!

How did you decide on the paint you used? Is it for fresh water only?
